Artist statement
Hailey Chanler is an impressionist artist who was born and raised in Taos, New Mexico. Where she learned how to use acrylic paint outside with guidance from Leigh Gusterson.
At age 13, she explores the natural world and celebrates the gift of light that illuminates Northern New Mexico.
Chanler attendant the New Mexico School for the Art in Santa Fe, New Mexico for high school. Where she developed her fine art skill and explored drawing, sculpturing, photography and print making.
She has won multiple awards within the Taos and Santa Fe community. Within Chanler’s lifetime, climate change has affected the landscape around her. She wants to advocate for the land and water while admiring the landscape around her.
Now she is currently a full-time student at Fort Lewis College in Durango, Colorado where she is pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Conservation and Management with a River Studies and Leadership and a Regenerative Food System certificate.
